Our footprint

Our Footprint is a photo series commissioned for the 'Textile Preview' in Textile View Magazine #131 for Spring/Summer 2021 on behalf of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, a trend analysis agency. Studio Nina van Bart visually translated the trend report from Stijlinstituut Amsterdam into an inspiring photo series through prop and set design. This issue aims to stimulate the textile industry to create waste-free garments, influenced by the environmental crisis and Covid-19, and focusing on consumers' growing interests in pleasure, awareness, integrity, and emotional connection with what we wear. The visual content created by Studio Nina van Bart captures the essence of these trends and offers an abstract representation of how these trends can be integrated into textiles of wearable fashion.

Prop- & Set Design

Through dedication to material and colour compositions, Studio Nina van Bart brings visions to life with prop and set designs that are both visually inspiring and thought-provoking. By collaborating with specialists such as photographers and videographers, the studio transforms these settings into inspiring photo series and immersive videos. The photo series for the 'Textile Preview' in Textile View Magazine #131 are categorised into nine trend sections, presenting sustainable textile concepts, reuse, DIY solutions, and emotional connection. The sections are titled: Found at Home, Bare Essence, Lived-in, Ad Hoc, Repair Wear, Touch Me, Post-Fossil, Rags Revived, and Plant Dyes. It highlight a fashion world that prioritises meaning over abundance, showcasing production processes where agriculture, yarn makers, waste processors, designers, and creators collaborate closely to craft products with skill and creativity. The essence of these trend sections is visualized through set and prop design, providing an abstract representation of how these trends can be integrated into textiles for wearable fashion. The studio crafted the props, curated and manipulated the textiles, and combined materials into narrative set designs. Studio Nina van Bart produced the photo series in collaboration with photographer Leon van den Broek. Similar to the visual interpretation of the designs in the trend report, the photography diverges from the perfection of a studio setting. The images are captured in natural light, reflecting a desire for sincerity and humanity.

“My mission is to translate visions into visual content that is both striking and thought-provoking, sparking inspiration across industries.”
